This is my first twingo. I bought it in october 1994. It is a model coming from Spain because
it was cheaper than in france. It costed me 50.000 french francs for this
1.2 basic lemon yellow 396 with optional sunroof. Then
I decided to equip it progressively. Here is the list of all modifications
done :
Outside
- rear spoiler
- fog lamps
- Remus DTM exhaust
- painted bumpers and retroviseurs
- adhesive squares + williams
logos
- 14 inch alloy wheels
- side protections
- sport air filter K&N
Inside
- alarm + central looking with
remote control
- gearbox with yellow
leather
- heater keys in yellow
- adjustable rear head support
- yellow sport wheel
Any remarks, black book
and maintenance operations made :
- one front wheel bearing changed
at 35.000 km
- brake pads need to be changed
every 20.000 km
- brake discs changed at 100.000
kms
- Firestone 165/60x14 are
bad ! Dunlop SP le mans in same size are much better !
- alternator belt broke at
80.000 kms. (it leads the water pump too so I had an overheating of the
engine but with no consequences). It needs to be change in preventive around
20.000 kms (few francs !)
- gearbox oil leakage at 100.000
kms (small ring has been changed then)
- a lot of lights broken
- increase of performances
with a lot of km !
- performance is bad when
the engine is still cold due to catalysator
- average autonomy is
about 420 kms (until the orange low level indicator)
- the 5th speed is too long
- the noise is sometimes important
with the sunroof
- the sunroof is large and
fantastic
After more than 120'000 km without expensive problem with this car, I sold it in order to buy a twingo 2 in july 1999.
