Twingo 2 - Serie 4 (1998-2000) :
July 1998
Major restyling for the Twingo, called now Twingo 2 :
- New interior, with new front seats (the same as Clio 2), new upholstery and a new dashboard (the speakers are placed on the top of the dashboard instead of underneath, and there is at last a real glove compartment).
- Painted bumpers (on the pack model).
- The lights and indicators are all behind one glass, and the rear lights have been redesigned too.
- 4 new colours : tobago 456, anis 306, bleu ciel 426 and orange 327.
- All models have light yellow keys and light brown plastics.
- Double-airbag, with sides Airbags in option.
- New glass sunroof, with 2 windows (front and rear + 4 sliding protection curtains). But only the front one can be opened electrically. The soft top is still available.
- Radio remote control on the wheel.
- Tyres are 155/70 for all models.
- Stabilizing bar on the rear wheels.
- The wheel cover are bigger and 5 stars design.
- The speed screen has changed a little and the level of petrol is with very small bars instead of points. There is an indicator for "seat belts non fasten".
The
first special version of the Twingo 2 is the Twingo Sound. It's
a Twingo Pack with front and rear speakers, Minidisc player, aluminium
wheels and rear spoiler.
At
the 1998 Paris Mondial AutoShow, presentation of an INITIALE version of
the Twingo.
The
Twingo
Initiale benefits from a unique finish with Almond pearlescent metallic
paint as standard, "Maya" light alloy wheels and extra lights. Inside,
Almond leather upholstery with seat covers, matching soft-touch accessories,
and thick tufted carpet and mats with a motif, complete the refinement
and elegance of the presentation. The Twingo Initiale is equipped
with numerous features as standard : twin airbags, head/chest side
airbags, front and rear headrests, heat-reflective windscreen, electric
windows and door mirrors, remote control centralised locking and power
assisted steering.
Three special editions are available : the Twingo Helios (with a glass sunroof), the Twingo Look and the Twingo Liberty. They have a lot of options (electrical windows and mirrors, central locking, aluminium wheels, fog lights, soft top, ...) included in a low cost package.
L'Oréal in Spain offers 40 Twingo L'Oréal (Initiale model with L'Oréal stickers).
Special version in Germany : Twingo Metropolis (electrical glas roof, power steering, metallic paint, electrical windows and mirrors).
